Search engines are your premium target and you should help them display your titles properly and hence we got the expression of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and SEO friendly titles can't go too long or too short. To display your title properly on search engines it needs to be 50-60 characters. If too long you will lose relevant keywords and traffic and if too short you could lose relevancy to your content. What is your chance of using the word (Clever) for selling your item in a world wide competition with big news agencies and famous bloggers?, that's a zero chance and instead you should try to use a more unique and different word to advertise your article: for example you can use (shrewd, slick, deft), they all have the same meaning of clever with less competition.
This is more related to your content rather than your title itself. Creative content and figuring out something new to write about is more important that writing a perfect article and title for regular non creative content. You could write about your personal experience or biography, things that happen only in your country or your field of specialty, or even your own unique prospective of a movie or a book. People will like to read other's experiences and no one will compete you at this experience as it is completely personal.
Some bloggers start with the title then go on for the content, you can start with a primary title for your own use to guide you through your article but the final title should come at the end when you finish writing.
